My Favorites: Balance
By Ashley Miers
One of the first essential oils I was introduced to when I became familiar with doTERRA was Balance. A friend who knew that I struggled with depression suggested that I diffuse balance in my home to see if it made a difference. While I would never claim that essential oils were solely responsible for my recovery - my recovery has been due to combining an array of self-care practices with solid commitment and support - I did most certainly find the scent of Balance to be very comforting and centering.
doTERRA refers to Balance as a “grounding blend”, and it is exactly that. It has a soothing, earthy aroma reminiscent of a walk through a pine tree forest on a warm sunny day.
In addition to Spruce Leaf (responsible for the pine scent), Balance also contains Ho Wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile and Osmanthus Flower essential oils in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil.
According to the doTERRA website, Blue Tansy helps to uplift mood and Frankincense promotes feelings of peace and relaxation. Balance is also recommended to help with calming anxiety and countering cycles of worry and fear.
Interestingly, Spruce (the main ingredient in Balance) was used by Native Americans for health and spiritual reasons, and I have to wonder if that is no coincidence. My recovery from depression and dysfunction has been a profoundly spiritual journey, and I feel anything that (safely) helps us cultivate a stronger connection with Source can be a catalyst for insight and improvement in our lives.
