My Favorites: Cinnamon
By Ashley Miers
Cinnamon is a powerful substance. As an adaptogen, cinnamon is capable of being used by the body in whatever way the body may need - meaning it adapts to the needs of your specific system.
Some potential benefits of cinnamon include the regulation of blood sugar, protection against heart disease risk factors and anti-inflammatory properties.
Did you know that cinnamon is derived from the bark of a type of tropical evergreen tree native to Sri Lanka?
In North America, the cozy scent and flavor of cinnamon are often associated with the seasons of autumn, winter and the holidays. Cinnamon also has warming properties, and in essential oil form, makes a great warming massage oil to help relieve muscle aches.
***Note: Always dilute cinnamon oil with a carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil) prior to applying topically as skin irritation may occur when this powerful oil is used undiluted.
